This project involved the installation of a 20 000 Litre Ausdrain Tank to collect stormwater run-off from a council car park area. The system was designed by North Sydney Council to provide reticulated water for the irrigation of landscaped areas surrounding the car-park.
The run-off from the car-park is collected via three different sources. Firstly, a grated surface drain collects the run-off from the northern car-park. This water is filtered through an Ausdrain EnviroSump and then piped into the tank.
Secondly, porous pavers were used to construct a roadway connecting the northern and southern car-parks. Ausdrain 30mm drainage cell capable of withstanding heavy vehicular traffic was installed under the pavers and over a plastic membrane to capture water passing through the drainage cell and direct this water over the surface of the tank.
Thirdly, the top surface of the tank was covered with Geotex 401 Filter Fabric to allow surface water from the lawn area and water form the drainage cell to percolate into the tank.
In doing so, the council has been able to maximize the total surface catchment. This water is now being used to irrigate the landscaped and lawn areas surrounding the car-park. |
