| 1. Installation of
a 150,000 litre Stormwater Re-use Tank - Shepparton City
Council Depot, VIC |
| |
In February 2005, Shepparton City
Council installed a 150 000 Litre Rainwater Harvesting
Tank to provide reticulated water to the new council depot.
The tank consisted of 1500 AUSDRAIN™ EnviroModules
to form a 15 metre long x 8 metre wide x 1.35m deep underground
storage tank. The tank was surrounded in a pre-fabricated
.5mm tank liner that is supplied by AUSDRAIN™ as
a base with separate lid.
There is no welding or taping of the liner required on
site.
During excavation the pit was benched for safety allowing
greater access to install the modules and liner.
The modules were assembled and positioned inside the liner
base to a height of 1.35m. The sides of the base are raised
as each layer of modules is installed and once all layers
have been installed eyelets at the top of the sides are
fastened to the modules to hold the sides in place. A
separate liner lid with a 500mm overlap side is then placed
over the top and seals the side and top of the tank. As
each layer of modules is installed the tank was backfilled
with sand giving good compaction and to protect the liner
from puncture. The tank was finally backfilled with 400
– 500 mm of cover over the surface and a lawn surface
was installed.
A 1200x1200x1800 pre-cast concrete pit was also placed
within the liner as an inlet and inspection pit for the
tank. Inlet pipes are then connected through the top section
of the pit and a knock-out with removable trash screen
provides an inspection opening into the tank. |
