Stormwater Systems » Rainwater Harvesting

1. Excavate pit allowing for tank dimensions and at least 500mm to each side and 500mm to the surface. Ensure the base is level using a 100mm layer of sand.

2. Assemble the modules as per the instructions ensuring there are 4 sides and 4 braces in each module.

3. Place a layer of geotextile on the base and to the sides of the pit with enough overlap to cover the top once complete.

4. Place the liner base inside the pit above the geotextile layer. The inside of the liner
should be kept clean at all times.

5. Begin installation of the tank structure by placing the assembled modules on top
and beside one another ensuring the 450mm side is in the upright position.

6. Once the modules are in place pull the excess liner over the top of the tank and secure the eyelets to the top layer of modules using plastic ties.

7. Place the lid liner over the top of the tank and ensure the sides of the lid overlap the sides of the base liner securely. Using duct tape secure the liner lid to the base.

8. Install the EnviroSump and connect downpipes into the EnviroSump above the stainless steel basket and filterbag. If additional depth is required, then 300mm risers should be used. The tank will need to sit at a lower depth as a result.

9. Connect inlet pipes from the EnviroSump to the tank and secure to the top of the tank using AUSDRAIN™ 150mm connectors or an appropriate flange and ensure that the pipe connection is sealed using PVC glue. The liner is made from PVC so will adhere to PVC connections.

10. Connect an overflow pipe from the tank preferably from the top of the tank using
AUSDRAIN™ 150mm connector or an appropriate flange and seal properly.

11. Surround the tank completely with the geotextile provided to protect the liner during backfilling.

12. Install the suction line through the top of the tank for connection to an above ground pump. Once again ensure that the pipe is sealed to the tank liner using an appropriate flange.

13. Back-fill with clean sand to the sides and 200mm above the tank. There should be no
sharp objects in the back-fill material.

14. Compact the sand area by soaking the area with a hose. Only light machinery such as a bob cat with tracks should be used to back fill the tank.

15. Place a second layer of geotextile over the sand to act as a dig alert and liner protection layer.

16. Lay 300 mm of clean topsoil above the geotextile layer. It should be noted that careful selection of trees and plants should be made so as not to interfere with the liner. If root penetration is possible the tank should be surrounded with a root barrier to prevent interference.

17. Once installed section off the tank area so as to prevent heavy traffic from damaging the tank during construction works if required.

18. Ensure that the filter basket and filter bag are placed inside the EnviroSump. It is imperative that the EnviroSump is maintained regularly to prevent blockage of the basket and filter.

19. Install the relevant signage i.e. Rainwater as required by the local authority.

20. Please be aware that the water stored in the AUSDRAIN™ tank is not recommended for drinking and should only be used for toilet flushing, laundry and gardens.
