Stormwater Systems » On-site Detention

4. Multi-Unit Development - Ryde, NSW

This project required the installation of a 60 cubic metre Tank to act as both a combination of Infiltration and On-Site Detention. This tank was installed in a long line adjacent to the driveway in a landscaped area.

The tank was installed at the bottom of the site adjacent to a nature reserve. As the site was predominantly clay soil, there was only a limited possibility for infiltration. The tank was surrounded in Geotex 401 Filter Fabric to enable as much infiltration as possible. The remaining volume of water is contained in the tank and discharged via an orifice plate to stormwater mains.

Even in clay soils, the AUSDRAIN™ System has proven to be 6 times more efficient in enabling infiltration to occur. This is due to the large open void spaces that create greater outward pressure to push water back into the ground.
